As a Commissioning Manager supporting Clear on an on-site basis in Amsterdam, Netherlands, you will take full operational, tactical, and technical ownership of commissioning strategy, test script development, integrated systems testing (IST), and deficiency tracking. Your day-to-day responsibilities include leading multidisciplinary commissioning teams through electrical, mechanical, and automation testing phases, coordinating vendor representatives, resolving complex functional anomalies, collaborating with electrical and mechanical construction managers, and interacting directly with professional delivery consultants like Amelia Burrows.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct, manage, and oversee the complete commissioning lifecycle (Levels 1-5) for hyperscale data centre electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
Author, review, and approve comprehensive commissioning scripts, method statements, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and IST protocols.
Lead Integrated Systems Testing (IST), simulated black-start testing, generator load-bank testing, and mechanical thermal load tests.
Coordinate onsite activities for third-party commissioning agents, equipment manufacturers, electrical contractors, and mechanical vendors.
Identify, log, track, and resolve commissioning snags, punch-list items, and operational deficiencies prior to client handover.
Ensure strict adherence to ASHRAE standards, Uptime Institute tier requirements, and local safety and environmental codes.
Collaborate seamlessly with construction managers, design engineers, operations teams, and client technical representatives.
Maintain meticulous commissioning documentation, test result sign-offs, calibration logs, and final handover certification packages.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related technical discipline.
Minimum of 8+ years of progressive professional hands-on experience in testing and commissioning mission-critical data centres or complex industrial facilities.
Strong, demonstrable operational expertise in Level 1 through Level 5 commissioning processes for electrical (UPS, generators, switchgear) and mechanical (chillers, CRAC/CRAH) systems.
Comprehensive working knowledge of Uptime Institute tier classification standards and ASHRAE testing guidelines.
Deep practical experience in leading Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and managing complex deficiency tracking logs.
Solid practical grasp of building management systems (BMS), power monitoring systems (EPMS), and automated control logic.
Exceptional analytical problem-solving aptitude, leadership capabilities, and professional stakeholder communication skills.
Mandatory possession of a valid EU passport and physical availability for on-site rotation operations in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
Professional commissioning certifications such as Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) or Accredited Commissioning Process Manager (ACP-M).
