Talcom is recruiting three Configuration Engineers for an organization developing software for maritime traffic management. Its platform helps operators monitor vessel movements, manage traffic, and respond to safety-critical situations.
The organization is moving from installations on customer infrastructure towards a SaaS platform. Your role is to configure that platform for customers, test its behavior and help deliver a system that works in daily operations.
What will you do?
Translate requirements and operating procedures into application settings.
Configure modules covering alarms, traffic information, user permissions and sensor data.
Maintain and document the configuration baseline.
Design and execute functional tests.
Prepare and carry out Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests.
Investigate findings with software engineers and specialists, following them through resolution and testing.
Support operators and capture knowledge in templates, test sets and documentation.
You work with a Systems Architect, Systems Engineers and other delivery engineers. Project Managers coordinate requirements outside the standard scope, including infrastructure arrangements needed to maintain operations.
This is a configuration and implementation role. You use functionality already built into the platform rather than developing new software features.
What do you bring?
A bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, through education or experience.
Experience with structured testing and an interest in configuring software products.
Familiarity with XML, JSON, YAML, SQL, log analysis and basic scripting.
Working knowledge of Linux and networking.
The ability to explain system behavior to both users and engineers.
Spoken and written Dutch and English.
Willingness to spend approximately 20 percent of your time at customer sites in the Netherlands and abroad.
Maritime experience, knowledge of radar or tracking, and ISTQB certification are advantages.
The salary ranges from €3,600 to €6,500 gross per month, depending on experience, skills, and educational background.
MIVD security screening is mandatory. For this assignment, screening requires a long history of residence within the European Union. A VOG does not replace this screening, and residence history alone does not guarantee clearance.
