About Root Root is an AI-powered sustainability platform that helps retailers turn messy operational data into audit-ready carbon footprints. We're already working with companies like Hema, O'Neill, Holland & Barrett, Jumbo, Bugaboo and Intratuin. Everything we've sold so far came through outbound, partners and our own network. Now we've raised €1.2 million to build the commercial engine, and marketing is the piece that's missing.
The role You own marketing at Root, end to end. You set the strategy and execute it yourself. The focus is product and performance marketing: understanding what we sell and who buys it, then getting that in front of the right people across paid, SEO, GEO and LinkedIn. You will be measured on traffic and leads. You work closely with both founders, our GTM engineer and our account executives, and decide what you need from each of them.
Key responsibilities:
Own the marketing strategy: which channels, in what order, with what budget and targets
Run performance marketing yourself: build, run and optimise paid campaigns on LinkedIn and Google
Own SEO and GEO: make Root findable in search and in the AI tools our buyers use
Own LinkedIn: company and founder presence, organic and paid
Sharpen positioning and messaging for sustainability managers and their executives
Direct the content engine: set direction and cadence
Measure everything: work with our GTM engineer to track which channel produced which lead
Requirements
You do the work yourself, hands-on across campaigns, SEO, LinkedIn, ads and measurement - not managing an agency
Product marketing instincts: can learn a technical product and turn it into messaging and campaigns
Early-stage experience: worked somewhere with no brand awareness, no big budget and no playbook
B2B mid-market and enterprise marketing experience, with multi-stakeholder deals
Self-starter with an opinion, who brings the plan and pushes back where needed
Fluent English; Dutch is a strong plus given our Benelux focus
Affinity with sustainability, ESG or carbon accounting is a bonus, not a requirement
