About the Role EU Agency is seeking an experienced
Application Engineer / Administrator (L3 Expert)
to support the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of critical ICT application platforms. The successful consultant will join a team of 14 professionals responsible for application engineering and operational support in a large-scale enterprise environment. The role focuses on application administration, containerized environments, Elasticsearch platforms, cloud technologies, and automation within an ITIL-driven operational framework. Key Responsibilities Install, configure, administer, and maintain applications in production and non-production environments. Monitor application performance, availability, and capacity, ensuring optimal service quality. Perform incident, problem, change, and release management activities following ITIL processes. Troubleshoot application issues and coordinate resolution activities. Manage and support Elasticsearch clusters and related services. Administer and maintain containerized platforms using Kubernetes, Docker, Helm Charts, and Rancher. Develop automation solutions for recurring administration and operational tasks. Produce and maintain technical documentation, including:
Operational procedures Troubleshooting guides Backup and recovery plans Installation and support documentation
Contribute to technical knowledge management and operational best practices. Generate reports on application performance, usage, capacity, and service availability. Participate in an on-call rotation supporting critical business applications. Required Qualifications Education & Experience University degree (minimum 3-4 years) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum
9 years of professional IT experience . Minimum
5 years of experience in Application Administration/Engineering
roles. Minimum
6 years of experience in medium to large enterprise IT infrastructures . English language proficiency at
B2 level or higher . Technical Skills (Mandatory) Application & Infrastructure Administration Strong experience administering enterprise applications in production environments. Experience supporting both Microsoft and Linux server infrastructures. Application deployment, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting expertise. Containerization & Microservices Minimum 2 years of experience with:
Kubernetes Docker Helm Charts Rancher Microservices-based architectures
Elasticsearch Minimum 2 years of hands‑on administration experience. Experience in:
Cluster deployment Performance tuning Monitoring High availability and maintenance
Automation & Configuration Management Strong knowledge of:
Ansible Puppet Chocolatey Configuration management principles
Scripting Practical experience with:
PowerShell Shell scripting (Bash or equivalent)
Minimum 2 years of experience with:
Microsoft Azure AWS Hybrid Cloud environments
IT Service Management Strong understanding of:
ITIL framework Incident Management Change Management Release Management Problem Management
Certifications Relevant certifications in one or more of the following areas:
Kubernetes Docker Elasticsearch Azure AWS Linux Administration Microsoft Server Technologies
Nice-to-Have Skills DevOps practices and methodologies. Experience with relational databases:
Microsoft SQL Server PostgreSQL
Experience with Kong API Gateway. Advanced cloud architecture and operations knowledge in Azure or AWS. On-Call Support The consultant will participate in a periodic on-call rota: Approximately one week every six weeks. Remote support expected within one hour of notification. Ideal Candidate Profile We are looking for a senior Application Engineer who combines strong operational expertise with modern cloud-native technologies. The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing enterprise applications, containerized environments, Elasticsearch platforms, and cloud infrastructure while working within structured ITIL service management processes.
