About the Role
Our client, a major player in the mining sector, is actively seeking a skilled and certified Heavy Equipment Operator to join their operations near Rustenburg, North West . This is an essential role requiring proficiency in operating various heavy-duty machinery used in mining environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for excavation, loading, hauling, and other material handling tasks, ensuring efficiency and safety in all operations. This position demands a strong commitment to safety protocols, excellent machine handling skills, and the ability to work effectively in a demanding, fast-paced operational setting. The role involves working shifts and contributing to the smooth functioning of extensive mining activities. Key Responsibilities
Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and haul trucks safely and efficiently. Perform pre-operation checks and routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance. Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or necessary repairs immediately. Transport materials, minerals, and waste products according to operational plans. Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and site‑specific regulations. Follow instructions from supervisors and dispatchers regarding work assignments and routes. Maintain a clean and organized work environment and equipment cab. Contribute to team efforts by communicating effectively with other operators and site personnel. Participate in safety meetings and training sessions. Ensure efficient fuel consumption and minimize wear and tear on machinery. Requirements
Valid driver's license and relevant operator permits/certificates for heavy machinery (e.g., excavator, loader, bulldozer, dump truck). Proven experience operating heavy equipment in a mining or construction environment. Demonstrable knowledge of safe operating practices for heavy machinery. Ability to perform basic maintenance checks and identify potential equipment issues. Physical fitness and ability to work in demanding outdoor conditions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions precisely. Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required. Residency or willingness to relocate to the vicinity of Rustenburg, North West . Benefits
