Are you the dean who teaches our secondary vocational school students to choose life? We are looking for an enthusiastic dean for the secondary vocational school department.

What will you do?

You shape and direct our Career Orientation and Guidance (LOB) policy at the lower secondary school (mavo). Mavo students are required to actively engage in LOB; you not only help them with their profile and further choice (such as the transition to the mbo or the havo), but alsotruly teach them to ‘choose learning’ based on the five career competencies. Tasks and responsibilities

Continuing education program & mavo program: You develop and secure a coherent LOB program for the mavo (and mavo/havo classes). You organize mavo-specific activities, such as the mbo visit and the vocational training market. First- and second-line support: As a second-line expert, you are the point of contact for students and parents regarding complex choices, profile choices, and transition processes. In addition, you mentor and support the mentors in their role as first-line LOB support staff. Verbindung & Dalton: You form a close partnership with the team leaders (including around subject packages) and with the dean of the vocational secondary school/upper secondary school. You seek connections with the Citizenship and KIC working group, and actively contribute to our Dalton concept (in which your role as dean is crucial).is stimulating, coaching and facilitating). Networking & Quality: You maintain close contact with further education institutions (mbo/havo), the regional dean’s council and other external parties. You regularly coordinate with the responsible portfolio holder within the school management. Teaching: Because we believe it is important that you fully understand our students and the dynamics within the team, you will also teach MAVO classes. Size & Deployment

This involves a task of approximately 0.3 FTE / 500 hours, combined with your lessons/tasks. The final FTE amount is agreed upon in consultation and depends on the number of lessons you teach. Working at Oscar Romero

Our motto is 'Learn in good spirit". At Oscar Romero, you feel the unique Oscar atmosphere. At our school, you immediately feel at home in your own team. The building is modern but cosy. With us, students get the chance to grow. That starts by choosing the mavo, mavo/havo, havo, havo/vwo or vwo bridge class. There they lay the foundations for the rest of their schooling. Our bridging period lasts two years. Since school year 2025-2026, we have been an aspiring Dalton school. This means that with us, pupils not only learn from books, but also develop important skills for later. All pupils have a Dalton planner and receive 8 Dalton hours per week, in which they are in charge of their own agenda. Do they need some extra help with a particular subject or will they work on their homework in the quiet room? This is how they learn to organise their time, make choices and work together with their classmates on great projects. Besides the regular lessons, pupils can choose the Sports, Art or Technology line. They then get an extra two hours a week of lessons to study a subject they really like, together with peers with the same interests. In these extra lessons, they do all kinds of fun things. The Sports line goes to the Weissensee for a week, the Art line to Oerol and the Technology line builds on technical projects to eventually compete in competitions. It is important to us that our pupils feel good at school. That is why there is always extra guidance if they need it, such as in our PlusPunt. But pupils should also feel good physically. As a Healthy School, we are happy to do our bit to ensure this.
