Volatility Trader

Mint Tower is looking for a Volatility Trader to join its Volatility team. In this role, you will actively identify and pursue opportunities within the volatility universe.

• Primary Focus
• Actively positioning and trading single-stock options by identifying opportunities in volatility skew, term structure, and dispersion, while taking direct ownership of execution around company-specific catalysts such as earnings announcements, Capital Markets Days, mergers and acquisitions, and other special situations.
• Relative Value & Dispersion: Structuring and executing multi-legged single-stock vs. index dispersion and cross-name RV strategies.
• Trade Identification: Sourcing dislocations through flow monitoring, positioning diagnostics, and fundamental-catalyst mapping.
• Portfolio & Risk Operations: Managing dynamic delta/gamma hedging, capital/margin efficiency, funding costs, and multi-book optimization.
• Position Requirements
• Education: Graduate degree (MSc preferred) in Finance, Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent quantitative discipline.
• Experience: Minimum 4+ years of hands-on trading or market-making experience focusing on equity derivatives, with a demonstrated Pn L/execution track record in single-stock volatility.
• Single-Stock & Event Know-how: Deep familiarity with single-stock vol surface mechanics, execution friction/liquidity in single-name options, dispersion mechanics, and trading through binary/idiosyncratic events (earnings, CMDs, corporate actions).

Less focus on academic/theoretical pricing models; heavy emphasis on execution edge, risk appetite, and relative value judgment.

• Quantitative Skills: Solid quantitative foundation with practical Python (or equivalent) capabilities for surface slicing, flow/data analysis, and scenario backtesting.
• Mindset: Collaborative, commercial, and commercially accountable; capable of managing risk budget independently while contributing to overall desk Sharpe/drawdown objectives.
