We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join an established engineering team developing high-performance, customer-facing applications within the financial technology sector. You will focus on Java backend development, building microservices, improving application performance and supporting reliable production systems. Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot. Build scalable microservices and REST APIs. Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code. Work with SQL and NoSQL databases. Contribute to system design and architectural improvements. Improve application performance, reliability and scalability. Support CI/CD pipelines, deployments and production monitoring. Investigate technical issues and contribute to root cause analysis. Collaborate with engineers and Product Owners to deliver new functionality. Strong working knowledge of Spring Boot. Experience building microservices and REST APIs. Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases. Understanding of backend architecture and distributed systems. Experience working on production applications. Familiarity with unit testing, integration testing and SOLID principles. Strong analytical and communication skills. Nice to Have
AWS or other cloud platforms. Docker, Kubernetes and GitLab CI/CD. Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures. Experience supporting applications with 10,000+ users. Financial services, payments or FinTech experience. Application monitoring and production incident management. Ideal Candidate
A hands-on Backend Engineer with strong Java and Spring Boot experience, capable of building reliable services, contributing to technical decisions and taking ownership of production-quality code.
