Overview
In this Lead Data Engineer role, you shape the data platform that powers the Patient Finder product, enabling robust data pipelines and a scalable data warehouse. You will lead cross-functional work, mentor engineers, and drive platform improvements to improve data quality and reliability. You’ll collaborate with Product, Engineering, QA, and ML teams to integrate data components across the product ecosystem. The opportunity combines hands-on engineering with strategic leadership in a healthcare data domain, with measurable impact on patient insights.
Verantwoordelijkheden
- Lead end-to-end design and delivery of the data platform (pipelines + warehouse layers) using Prefect, Python and SQL
- Standardise patterns across the data landscape to reduce overhead and improve maintainability
- Plan releases with quality controls and risk management, ensuring continuity
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to refine requirements and prioritise backlog
- Raise engineering standards through reviews, testing practices, and AI-assisted development
- Work with QA to improve test maturity and automation for pipelines
- Collaborate with App and AI/ML leads to integrate data components with the product ecosystem
- Lead the data engineering team and manage work intake and prioritisation
Belangrijkste vereisten
- Extensive Python experience in scalable, testable code
- Proven data pipeline development (Prefect, Airflow, Luigi, Dagster)
- Hands-on SQL experience with Microsoft SQL or PostgreSQL
- Experience as a lead or in senior roles; strong architecture and decision-making skills
- Ability to translate complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience in teams of 4+ developers; constructive critique culture
- Automation and AI-assisted development tools for quality and speed
- CI/CD and DevOps familiarity
- Excellent English communication; based in Europe, ideally commutable to Amsterdam
