Overview
As Propagation Engineer you contribute to ESA’s Wave Interaction and Propagation activities, delivering modelling, validation and data-processing support for space communications, navigation and remote sensing.
You work within a cross-disciplinary team to develop and validate end-to-end performance tools and algorithms for onboard and ground processing.
You will drive innovative concepts and maintain state-of-the-art expertise in propagation environments.
This role offers impact on mission-critical Earth and planetary applications and technology development.
- Verantwoordelijkheden
- Provide expert technical support to ESA projects and studies across all phases
- Participate in feasibility studies, reviews and procurement evaluations
- Identify development problems and help resolve them
- Define technology development requirements and work plans for technology programmes
- Initiate and manage R&D activities for long- and short-term needs
- Foster new application areas with multidisciplinary, cutting-edge technologies
- Conduct laboratory activities and monitor scientific/technical trends
- Disseminate results and facilitate knowledge transfer across the Agency
- Support other activities within the area of competence

- Master degree in a relevant domain with 5 years of professional experience
- Strong experience in wave propagation modelling (RF and optical) for telecommunications and/or navigation
- Knowledge of telecommunications and navigation concepts including signal structure
- Experience in developing propagation channel models
- Ability to derive environment-related requirements for navigation receivers and reference stations
- Experience in defining/using performance simulation tools and end-to-end analyses
- Familiarity with laboratory tests and propagation campaigns
- Experience in project environments with procurement/industrial activity monitoring
- Awareness of ITU-R and 3GPP standardisation bodies
- Ability to interact with both scientific and engineering communities
