As an Engine Specialist at Boskalis, you provide expert-level technical support and strategic advice for maintenance, repair, and optimization of main propulsion engines. You will serve as the knowledge owner for the fleet’s engines, ensuring reliability, cost efficiency, and compliance while pursuing innovative, risk-based solutions. You work closely with Fleet Management, project teams, and suppliers to keep global dredging operations running smoothly. Verantwoordelijkheden
- Act as the technical reference point for propulsion and auxiliary engines to Fleet Teams
- Diagnose and assess complex engine issues, failures, and abnormal trends
- Support in planning, budgeting, and resource requirements for repairs
- Technically assess repair scopes, service reports, and quotations from OEMs and providers
- Ensure compliance with OEM requirements, class rules, and internal standards
- Evaluate workmanship and technical quality during and after repairs
- Share technical insights and lessons learned within the organization
- Attend critical repair moments on board or in dock and represent Boskalis in inspections and failure investigations
- Capture lessons learned and feed back to Fleet Teams and Docking Support
Belangrijkste vereisten
- Marine Engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification
- hands-on experience on multiple engine types as chief engineer or sr. service engineer
- strong understanding of lubricants, fuels, engine wear mechanisms, and root-cause analysis
- proven track record in managing 4-stroke marine engine and auxiliary system overhauls and troubleshooting
- OEM expertise in Wärtsilä, Caterpillar, MAN, Cummins, Bergen preferred
- business-minded with cost control and risk mitigation
- excellent written and spoken English
- long-term residence in The Netherlands, willingness to travel approximately 1 week per month
