Overview
As an HVDC R&D Expert, you lead research and development for next-generation HVDC systems and circuit breaker technology. You validate SF6-free approaches with European partners and certification bodies, turning models into tested prototypes for grid-ready designs. You collaborate with interrupter and DC breaker specialists to shape the roadmap for a new European R&D centre. This role combines modelling, simulation, and system-level analysis to enable scalable, sustainable HVDC solutions. You drive impact by aligning research with certification and grid needs.

- R&D for next-generation HVDC systems and circuit breaker technology from modelling to validated prototypes
- Validation and test planning for SF6-free approaches with European partners and certification bodies in Arnhem
- System-level analysis to support grid-ready designs and productization
Belangrijkste vereisten
- MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering with proven HVDC and high-voltage switchgear or circuit breaker experience
- Hands-on arc-quenching technologies experience and knowledge of SF6 alternatives for GIS
- Strong background in power-system modelling and simulation
- Familiarity with European (KEMA/IEC) testing and certification workflows
