Overview
In this role you will help build scalable advertising and marketing platforms that empower sellers and advertisers on eBay. You’ll work across frontend, backend, APIs, data pipelines, and AI-driven workflows in a fast-moving, high-scale environment. You’ll partner with product, design, analytics, and ML teams to deliver reliable, measurable impact on customer and seller experiences. You’ll own end-to-end feature delivery and shape engineering practices in a culture of learning and collaboration. This is a chance to influence the future of eBay’s marketing technology ecosystem.

Verantwoordelijkheden
- Build scalable advertising and marketing platform features to grow seller and advertiser business
- Develop high-availability applications, APIs, and services using Java, Scala, and modern backend tech
- Own end-to-end delivery from design through deployment and production support
- Drive system design decisions in collaboration with cross-functional teams for scalable, reliable solutions
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to boost engineering velocity and partner with ML engineers on AI-powered capabilities
- Mentor teammates and contribute to engineering best practices and continuous learning
Belangrijkste vereisten
- BS/BA in Computer Science or related field plus 8+ years (or MS with 6+ years) of experience
- Strong Java (17+) and Spring Boot or similar framework experience
- Experience building scalable backend systems and RESTful APIs in distributed environments
- Experience with event-driven architectures and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Relational and/or NoSQL databases (Oracle/Postgres/MySQL, Cassandra/MongoDB) with schema design and query optimization
- Familiarity with Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Flink) and ability to perform architectural tradeoffs
- Ability to own end-to-end system design and write technical design docs; capable of design reviews
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools and exposure to GraphQL, federated APIs, LLM-powered features; open-source contributions a plus
- Strong ownership mentality and ability to drive work end-to-end in a collaborative environment
- Exposure to GraphQL and Federated GraphQL APIs is highly desirable
