Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer in Airwallex's Amsterdam Payments Team, you will help design and evolve the next-generation Payment Acceptance infrastructure. You’ll build backend services in a microservices world, connect with a React frontend, and collaborate with product and partner teams to deliver merchant-focused solutions. You’ll shape architecture, reduce tech debt, and improve operational effectiveness while gaining exposure to Visa and Mastercard platforms. This role blends hands-on engineering with strategic impact in a fast-growing fintech.
Verantwoordelijkheden
- Design and implement new capabilities aligned with the product roadmap
- Develop REST services and integration components in a microservices backend
- Collaborate with the payments product team and partner engineering teams
- Conduct architectural reviews for current and future solutions
- Address technical debt and improve operational effectiveness
- Support merchant needs through the core acquiring payment platform
- Integrate with React frontend and payment gateway ecosystems
Belangrijkste vereisten
- >5 years of software engineering experience with CI and quality engineering
- Ability to take concepts from inception to implementation with well-tested outcomes
- Strong CS fundamentals with recent focus on Java or Kotlin and Spring/Spring Boot
- Experience designing REST APIs and handling high-volume distributed systems
- Proficiency with Kafka streams and distributed storage (e.g., Cassandra, Hazelcast, Oracle Coherence)
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP or AWS) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and familiarity with observability tools (New Relic, StatsD, ELK, Datadog, Prometheus)
- Nice-to-have: payment gateway/acquiring/issuing experience and Local Payment Methods integration (e.g., iDeal, Klarna, Trustly)
