Overview
In this role you will own the end-to-end analog RF subsystems that support Optiver’s long-range HF communication systems. You’ll design, integrate and validate receive and transmit chains, working closely with system, algorithm, digital hardware, software, and test engineers to translate objectives into RF requirements and measurements. You will operate across simulation, modeling, lab testing and real-system data to drive performance improvements, with a focus on both low-power receive paths and high-power transmit chains. This position offers the chance to impact core trading infrastructure through RF subsystem optimization, validation and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Verantwoordelijkheden
- Own design, integration, characterization and performance of analog RF receive and transmit chains
- Work with high-power transmit hardware including power amplifiers, combiners, couplers, transmission lines and protection systems
- Design and optimize impedance-matching and tuning for changing antenna loads
- Develop and integrate low-power receive chains (LNAs, filters, switches, matching networks)
- Collaborate with antennas and arrays: impedance, bandwidth, radiation patterns, phasing and mutual coupling
- Simulate antennas/arrays with NEC, FEKO, CST or HFSS and validate against measurements
- Combine simulation, analytical modeling and measurement in Python to analyze link budgets and system limits
- Specify supplier requirements and manage RF vendor engagements from quote to acceptance testing
- Define and execute test strategies at component, subsystem and integration levels
Belangrijkste vereisten
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF/Microwave Engineering, Applied Physics or related discipline
- 3+ years of hands-on RF hardware or systems experience
- Strong foundation in analog RF including S-parameters, impedance matching, cascaded gain and noise
- Understanding of receiver noise figure, sensitivity, dynamic range and linearity; antenna patterns, array phasing and mutual coupling
- Practical measurement skills with VNAs, spectrum or signal analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators and RF power meters
- Analytical approach using equations, models and numerical simulations; validate predictions with measurements
- Solid Python foundation for analysis, modeling and measurement automation; knowledge of DSP fundamentals
- Clear technical communication and organized approach to requirements, supplier coordination and project delivery
- Ability to tackle open-ended engineering problems from investigation to validation and explain cross-disciplinary trade-offs
