Overview
In this General Accountant role, you will support the Luxembourg entity’s financial reporting and compliance from CHANEL’s Amsterdam Finance team. You’ll lead multi-entity accounting, tax coordination, and audits while collaborating with cross-border colleagues across Benelux and Scandinavia. You’ll drive accurate closing, robust controls, and insightful analysis to support liquidity and inventory valuation. This role offers hands-on impact in a global luxury brand with a focus on process harmonisation and transformation.
Verantwoordelijkheden
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting packages in line with standards and group requirements
- Coordinate direct and indirect tax filings (VAT, corporate tax) with internal tax specialists and external advisers
- Act as primary touchpoint for internal and external auditors; prepare documentation and track findings
- Maintain general ledger, reconcile accounts, support period-end close and accuracy of financial records for Luxembourg
- Review payroll postings, reconcile payroll accounts, and ensure statutory compliance with HR/payroll providers
- Prepare and analyse cash flow statements; support liquidity planning and forecasting
- Analyse inventory balances, movements, provisions, and valuation; assist with cycle counts and year-end stock counts
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations; investigate aged or unusual items
- Provide accounting support to Benelux and Scandinavian entities, including close activities and issue resolution
- Support finance transformation, system implementations, process harmonisation, and automation opportunities
Belangrijkste vereisten
- Solid accounting/finance experience, ideally 3+ years in retail, FMCG, or luxury within an international environment
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, closing, reconciliations, reporting and compliance
- Good judgement and strong control mindset with accuracy and deadline discipline
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate with local, regional, and global stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; translate financial data into insights
- Collaborative and service-oriented, with constructive challenge when needed
- Excellent English and French communication skills; Dutch a plus
