Overview
In this role you will lead Booking.com’s enterprise architecture, shaping standards and guiding principles to reduce cognitive load for engineers. You’ll align central architecture with business units, balancing rigorous governance with practical delivery to improve velocity and quality. You will oversee a federated, high-impact architecture program that influences across teams and domains, including AI-enabled software delivery. You drive interoperability, risk management, and scalable defaults that empower engineers to deliver securely and efficiently.

- Lead and develop a central team of Enterprise Architects and senior technical ICs, establishing high-impact expectations.
- Influence across organisational boundaries to create alignment through empathy, service, and practical guidance rather than authority.
- Define and evolve enterprise architecture, standards and Tech Guiding Principles in line with strategy and long-term technology direction.
- Coordinate Tech Guiding Principles as a company-wide effort, consolidating strongest ideas into shared direction and sensible defaults.
- Shape Booking.com’s technology enablement model for how teams build, deliver, secure, and run software.
- Establish defaults, foundations and operating model for software delivery in collaboration with key foundational teams.
- Improve engineering velocity by embedding sensible defaults into shared platforms, tooling, guardrails and reusable patterns.
- Guide the SDLC and Product Delivery Lifecycle evolution in light of AI, including where AI accelerates delivery and improves quality.
- Provide architectural direction for AI usage across design, development, testing, release and operations.
- Align enterprise architecture with BU solutions to maintain interoperability and reduce friction.
- Drive interoperability with clear boundaries, interfaces and decision rights.
- Define decision-making frameworks and guardrails to enable fast progress with architectural discipline.
- Use data and judgment to address the biggest risks in the technology estate.
- Maintain and evolve the Tech Radar and oversee architecture in regulated domains to ensure compliant, scalable defaults.

- Significant experience in software, solution and enterprise architecture in large-scale distributed environments.
- Proven leadership of Enterprise Architects and senior technical experts.
- Strong track record in defining enterprise architecture across business, data, application and technology domains.
- Ability to lead a central team while operating effectively in a federated organisation.
- Proven stakeholder management and cross-boundary alignment skills.
- Deep understanding of interoperability, architecture boundaries, interfaces and contracts.
- Experience shaping software delivery models and developer workflows in large-scale engineering orgs.
- Strong cloud, distributed systems and software architecture background with practical problem-solving ability.
- Familiarity with AI applications in engineering workflows is strongly preferred.
