Overview
As Software Engineer II on the Platform team, you own scoped enhancements to Flexport’s developer platform, working with a small team to ship tooling used by hundreds of engineers. You build self-serve capabilities, CI/CD tooling, and middleware to improve the developer experience. You’ll engage with internal users to translate needs into practical solutions and own projects end-to-end with senior guidance. This role offers meaningful ownership, cross-team impact, and a path to broader scope as you grow.

Verantwoordelijkheden
- Own and evolve the developer platform powering Flexport engineering
- Build paved paths and self-serve tooling to simplify correct behavior
- Develop and support CI/CD pipelines and build tooling (Buildkite, GitHub Actions; Gradle, Bazel, npm/pnpm/bun, Go, Cargo) and artifact repositories (Artifactory, ECR, GitHub)
- Enhance backend and frontend developer experience through scoped projects
- Contribute to GraphQL and gRPC ecosystem (middleware, federation, schema sharing, CLIs, codegen, servers and clients)
- Contribute to IAM solutions for secure-by-default access
- Assist engineers with container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS) and observability (OpenMetrics, Datadog)
- Collect internal feedback, convert it into problem statements, and prioritize what to build
Belangrijkste vereisten
- 2-5 years of software engineering experience
- full-stack curiosity across backend and frontend pipelines, Kubernetes manifests and CI configuration
- hands-on experience with CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions preferred)
- experience with a container orchestrator (Kubernetes preferred)
- multiple build tooling languages (bonus)
