Company Description
Catena Group is an Amsterdam-based investment and venture-building company operating at the intersection of renewable energy, financial innovation and technology. It combines its activities spanning sustainable infrastructure, fintech and blockchain-based finance into the company Energyblocks. Front and center is the application of distributed ledger technology (DLT) and decentralised finance (DeFi) to its real-world assets. By combining investments in sustainable infrastructure with innovative financing structures and digital financial solutions, the aim is to bridge traditional finance and real-world assets to the emerging on-chain capital markets. Role Description
At the heart of the company's platform, the Quantitative Risk Engineer will work on-site in Amsterdam, full-time, taking the technical lead on the institution-grade risk layer behind its tokenized renewable energy securities and DeFi products: the layer that makes stable onchain yield credible. You leads the core, drive the architecture, code quality and reliability of the risk system, including its embedded AI/ML components. You shape the risk logic, evolving exposure calculations, limit frameworks and model assumptions, with a real license to challenge what already exists. This extends into DeFi, designing the integration layer together with the DLT infrastructure team, defining what exposure, collateral and limits mean on-chain, and how smart contract, protocol risk and fragmented liquidity are measured alongside traditional risk. Ramping up on the risk engine, the role is a rare opportunity to take that system towards the benchmark for institution-grade risk layers in DeFi. Qualifications A career in the financial industry (bank, trading firm, treasury function or comparable) in a role directly tied to risk, trading or treasury systems. General fintech software experience without know-how of risk logic does not quite meet this bar. Fluency in risk: exposure, limits, model risk. Validate what a system does, not only implement it. First-hand experience of model validation, cyber security, audit or regulatory review. Strong engineering fundamentals: clean, tested, production-grade code, and the discipline to change a live risk system safely, including proficiency in python and front-end languages such as suelte. Comfort inheriting a system you did not build, and documenting developments as you go. A collaborative mindset: you develop the risk function in a team, raise hard calls early, make the people around you sharper and you are open to critical feedback. Comfortable with AI/ML components in production and experience with DeFi protocols, on-chain risk monitoring, smart contract risk, or digital asset custody and collateral are valuable.
