Process Engineer – Integrated Photonics & Thin-Film Technology – Enschede – ALTEN
The Position As part of our expanding team, we are looking for a talented
Process Engineer
to join us in
Enschede
and contribute to impactful projects. You will play a key role in the development and industrialization of next-generation photonic integrated circuits (PICs), focusing on low-loss silicon nitride (SiN) waveguides and photonic devices for quantum and microwave photonics applications. This is a highly hands-on engineering role within a cleanroom environment.
As a Process Engineer, your main tasks will include:
Developing and optimizing thin-film deposition processes for piezoelectric materials such as PZT, Aluminum Nitride (AlN), Lithium Niobate, and Barium Titanate
Integrating piezoelectric thin-film stacks onto SiN waveguides
Characterizing device performance and functional properties
Supporting industrial customers in implementing developed photonics technologies in their products
Your Profile
MSc in Applied Physics, Nanoscience, Materials Science, or Semiconductor-related disciplines
Minimum
4 years of experience
in cleanroom-based technology development
Strong hands‑on experience with thin-film deposition, photolithography/patterning, process development, and cleanroom manufacturing processes
Working Conditions
