Google is looking for a
Data Center Facilities Technician II, Controls
in
Groningen, Netherlands , with a focus on controls systems within critical data center environments. The role involves operating, monitoring, maintaining, and supporting facilities systems while helping ensure reliable and efficient data center operations. Responsibilities include inspecting, maintaining, and repairing systems involving
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), servers, network equipment, access control, alarm systems, and system administration . The technician will assist senior technicians by reading blueprints, schematics, ladder logic, and sequences of operation, conducting system tours, and assessing equipment condition. The role also includes operating and monitoring control, logging, and alarming systems, responding to abnormal facility conditions, and supporting the startup, commissioning, and integration of new controls equipment and systems. Candidates need at least
2 years of Controls experience , such as PLC or SCADA work, in an industrial or commercial environment, plus experience in a critical operations environment. A relevant technical associate’s degree, trade-school certification, verifiable training, or equivalent practical experience is required.
Fluent Dutch
is required, and candidates must be able to work non-standard hours and rotating shifts. The advertised Netherlands compensation is
€68,000–€69,500 per year , plus a
15% bonus target, equity, and benefits . Requirements
Associate's degree, trade school certification, verifiable training in a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience 2 years of experience in Controls such as PLC or SCADA in an industrial or commercial environment Experience working in a critical operations environment Ability to perform material handling, including lifting and shifting Ability to work on platforms, ladders, and under raised floors Ability to work non-standard hours and rotating shifts Experience with installation, commissioning, and operations of manufacturers' equipment and industry protocols is preferred Experience maintaining control systems in critical systems environments is preferred Scripting language proficiency is preferred Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and cooling systems used in critical industries is preferred Knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting equipment is preferred Ability to communicate with contractors performing maintenance or upgrade work is preferred
